Neighbors Organized to Protect Our Community

Neighbors Organized to Protect Our Community (NOPOC) is a grassroots all-volunteer association of neighbors and concerned citizens who are working together to preserve and protect the natural beauty of our community from the devastating effects of the unjustified and industrial/commercial scale "Santa Cruz 115KV Reinforcement Project".

Our goal is to reduce or eliminate the impact of the proposed project by informing as many people in the community as possible and encouraging PG&E to find an alternative that is not of such an industrial scale nor so damaging to our community values. That being said, it is not our intention to push this project off to some other neighborhood, but to use the available avenues through the CPUC, and free speech, to make our voice heard in opposition to the project as it stands now. We are not against reliable power nor against PG&E, but we do not want to see PG&E's profit model supersede the lifestyle and beauty of our bucolic neighborhoods that we all enjoy.

NOPOC has a thirteen member committee which aims to inform the nearly 2000 residents who will be affected by the devastating effects of this project.  The Committee members are: Tom and Ruth Barker, Nancy Bensen, Caroline Carney, Mariposa Kercheval, Jim Kerr, Trent McNair, Rose Marie McNair, Ed Murrer, Gary Niblock, Marco Romanini, Ev Sharp, Rick Voegelin.  The treasurer is Elizabeth Romanini.

We would like to thank Mariposa Kercheval for her hard work in providing this interactive Google map of the proposed Santa Cruz 115 kV Reinforcement Project. It allows you to zoom in and see the whole route in one map, as opposed to the 14 separate maps provided by PG&E.
