We Need Your Support!
Neighbors Organized to Protect Our Community (NOPOC) is a grassroots association of neighbors and concerned citizens. This is an all-volunteer effort by people who are working together to preserve and protect the natural beauty of our area.
We need your support in opposing the devastating effects on our community of the "Santa Cruz 115 kV Reinforcement Project" in its current form. We need volunteers who are willing to commit their time, energy, skills, and money to the cause.
The money is being raised to pay for extensive legal and expert advice to counter PG&E's claims, and to ensure the comments from residents and concerned citizens, will be heard and addressed by the CPUC.
We are excited and energized by our successes so far, and believe we have accomplished the goals NOPOC first imagined, including raising the necessary funds for the initial legal and engineering reviews.
However, we have also become aware of the course of action that will be necessary to prepare for the next, more difficult and costly, steps. We have re-assessed our needs and updated the budget that will be required to continue a vigorous defense during the upcoming CPUC hearings.
To put this in perspective, PG&E has annual revenues of $15.6 BILLION dollars, and a market value of $20.25 billion. Please consider what stopping this project will mean to you, to your neighborhood, and to the environment.
It is the goal of NOPOC to have complete financial transparency. Please see 'where your contributions go' for a detailed account of how we have been spending money and budgets for future spending.
Note: NOPOC is a non profit association recognized by the IRS under tax code 501(c)(4). Contributions to 501(c)(4) organizations generally are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. Please consult with your tax advisor.
