NOPOC Community Meetings

Aptos community meeting May 28, 2014

We had a great turnout at the Aptos Community Meeting tonight! There were about 70 people and standing room only- let us hope for that kind of turnout in Corralitos. We were also fortunate enough to have John Geesman, a former member and executive director of the California Energy Commission, stressed the importance of community input, when he spoke at the Aptos meeting. "Use the comments process to draw out as many issues as possible where PG&E has to provide the underlying data, drive up the cost of reasonable but necessary mitigation measures, and demand a more thorough documentation of need, alternatives, etc.," Geesman said. "Disabuse PG&E and the CPUC staff that this project represents the path of least resistance."

We must cause friction in the system to prevail- i.e. get out your pen and paper(or keyboard ) and start writing letters to those who can influence the outcome.   We have created a guide on how to write an effective letter as well as a list of addresses of influential people to whom you should write.

Corralitos community meeting June 9, 2014

Even though we ended up in a smaller room than we reserved, and even though it had no A/V system so we ended up projecting on a sheet, we still had another great turnout! There were more than 80 people in attendance and once again standing room only. Supervisor Zach Friend was there and made a brief comment that the county board did not oppose the project, but opposed the process. This is a great time to contact all your state and local reps and let your voices on this issue be heard.
